    Wink soapy screws

    to make a screw go in easier put the screw through a bar of soap it goes in a lot easier.i used to use tallow from a pipe thredder even better

    Sounds like a good tip, but if it wood and light (pine) you might want to keep the grip, particularly if you are building something outside.

    One of the best ways of helping screws to go into the wood more easily is to use a little tallow on the thread very useful if your screwing into hard woods. It is always best to make a pilot hole in hard woods to prevent splitting.
