    Installing DVD RW

    Hi, just installed a new DVD RW to go with my CD writer in my tower system, its an Advent system and want to know what master/slave relationship is, which 'switches' should be placed at the back of the DVD/CD and how do I enter BIOS from the PC as I have not used this is a long time and the key sequence escapes me, ANY help much appriciated...Hidden Content Hidden Content

    Hi on the rear of the drives beside the ide connections you have three sets of
    pins the middle two are for secondary and the two on the right are master
    make sure you have set them master and slave

    end of the cable master (top drive) second slave. to enter bios it is usually delete, sometimes F1, F2 or F10.

    it will be labeled on the drive
    possibly
    MS - master
    SL - slave
    CS - cable select

    you can either set both your drives to CS or set one to MS and the other to SL, it doesn't matter which is which, nothing is gained in making a certain one the master.
