goes banana with it switching itself around for a while, then it settles and the dolby digital light comes on and the 5.1 and it sounds great just like from my dvd.
so ive done some digging cause the array of indicators changes around so much, but ends in a config i had not seen before.
getting down on my knees and then looking in the manual has told me that it was in 'effect mode'. thus was giving its own interpretation of surround sound [and yes mine is 7.1 too!]
now ive yet to find out how to turn this off, cause its multilayered flourecent display, where i need to drill down several layers menus via a rotary, but it s got sometihng to do with prologic enchanced any how.
so it looks like you are correct, there are not 5.1 feeds bar the 2 -hd channels.
i know i can pc control it so i might find the lead and do it that way.

I started a thread ages ago because for one day only the movie chans were broadcasted in 5.1 then when back to stereo the next day. We all thought it was a test virg were doing. But since then there has never been a 5.1 output on any normal channels. My amp is 7.1 so can convert but its still not the same.
V1rgin have prooved its possible, theyre new boxes have an optical out so why not done??
@aldo2332.
as I said in the other thread, you have put my mind at rest(for now).

i joined a thread on the old NTLWORLD newsgroup about this, they admitted they did it, TBH i never watch the filmchannels so thats why i thought it was still working.
if i can find a date, it would be interesting to see if it is the same as your mem.

I have a Hd sky box, is it possible to somehow run the signal from my dbox through the sky box to decode the HD?
No ! No ! No !
Around about a year ago I contacted Technotrend to see if they were going to do an update to the TT-premium C-2300 DVB-C card that would decode HD. They said that this was on the cards and would be out in 2008. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though that has happened, but I have just had a look on thier web site and they do have some interesting other gadgets that accept DVB-C: -
* The USB-Box TT-connect? CT-3650 allows for decoding of HD channels with a reasonable quick CPU. Hidden Content
* Th TT-Select C854 is a HD capable DVB-C receiver Hidden Content
The problem is is don't know if there is any software out their that would be able to utilise these products.
For the PC build I was looking at MythTV (although I also think that GB-PVR or MediaPortal can be used with DVB-C cards and the DBox - although I might be wrong here), which I know can use the DBox via a network link as an additional tuner, I think is can also utilise the C-2300, but I'm not sure about the USB box.
To get the Select receiver to function as required, I'm guessing it would require the same kind of work that has gone into the DBox I don't know if anyone out there has fiddled with one of these receivers yet?
I've also come across this on the MediaPortal site (Hidden Content ). Now I wonder if we can view more than FTA.......
I'm still interested in building a Media PC and I think this is the way forward, although my finances have never allowed me to get going on this route as yet.
any ideas when able will be broadcasting hd channels
