MY New Amazon Fire TV (AFTV)

I've Just received it and have initially had a look. Plex is not installed on opening the box as i previously expected but for the moment in time it is free to download.

It can be set to adb mode and install apps from unknown sources AND has been able to be rooted in the past, just checking the if the current software version is able to be rooted at this time or not.

XBMC seems to be able to be installed and i beleive the device does not have to be rooted.

I will report back later with more definitive answers and things able to be done!

    EDIT:

Xbmc or Kodi as its now called has been installed with minimal effort using an app called Amazon Firetv utility app which automates the adb process. No root required. You can then also install autopilot(another android app) so that xbmx loads automatically. I dont want to do this, but and cant see an easy way to open xbmc at this time. To be clear, it dont appear in the apps section. it has to be opened via setting/apps which is a pain.

Amazon fire tv app will be added to the downloads section.
