hp officejet 7500a and compat ink carts

MY ink carts in the printer have run out and bought some compatable ones from amazon.

Ive installed them but the mc says something about non genuine carts and then shuts down.

    any ideas?

If the cartridges are chipped they may be faulty.I've got an Epson and I use to get a lot of bother with chips on compatibles.I now run mine from 6 x 100ml ink bottles.

    its a wireless printer?

When the old carts go in again i catch a brief glimpse of ' empty cartridges shutting down to prevent damage'

which is only shown on the screen very quick.

So i think what you said above is correct, something is wrong with the new compatible ones. Possibly the latest firmware update on printer might have added new security features to prevent compats being used?
