Re: best 80's horror films
The Fog is a must IMHO, although if your looking for something a bit different you cant go wrong with Bad Taste . I would also reccomend House (1986) which is fairly amusing. The 80's was a particularly prominant time for the salsher genre, and there are a lot ofelm street rip offs but none are as good as nightmare. Tried to post links but havent been a member long enough. All available for review on IMDB
Hope these help and happy viewingHidden Content

Re: best 80's horror films
If they had just made the film about the book then I would have agreed with you but it was crap in my opinion?
But then I've got no taste Hidden Content

Re: best 80's horror films
I dont actually disagree with you in all honesty. Looking back at a lot of these films and they really havent stood the test of time. However in terms of 80's horror I find The Fog to be quite atmospheric. But again all down to taste!

in no way knocking yer suggestion. its just that if you had read the book and expected a movie along the same lines then i'd have asked for me money back!

You make a valid point sir, all to often are we let down by the movie version of a book we enjoyed. I havent read the fog, perhaps I should!Hidden Content

Re: best 80's horror films
For me Maximimum overdrive wins hands down! Stephen kings directorial debut and an absolute killer soundtrack to boot.

my suggestion to 80's horror?
I know this is not a Horror as such.
Videodrome is a bit of a headf*ck?

Re: best 80's horror films
I agree with Hellraiser, just the first one mind. And anything by Croneneberg, Videodrome, Scanners and The Fly especially.
Look to Dario Argento for the finest horror of the decade, a lot US stuff in the last 20 years have copied it. Opera and Tenenbrae are the best if his '80s efforts. Though the '70s has his best work.
