Youtube videos playing slowly
A few weeks back I had a virus on my PC and ended up re-installing Windows.
Since then, when I watch videos on Youtube (or similar) the sound often gets mis-matched from the video and keeps lagging behind unless I pause the video.
Anyone else experienced this or have any advice on fixing the problem?

Dunno if this will help mate but I always install the latest version of this program anytime I do a fresh install of windows, it helps with a variety of video and audio, make sure to select the "full" version.

p.s
uninstall any other codec packs you may have already installed if you have installed any.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
yea make sure flash player is up to date and shock wave player both found on Hidden Content
flash can be a system hog some times on lower spec machines or something can be going on that's wrong, bring up task mangier and then play the you tube vid and see if your using a lot of ram/processor power if you are something more could be going on.
out of interest you have re installed all the windows updates haven you after reinstalling your os?
also for my interest what anti virus did you have on that let a virus in?

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Did you install your graphics card drivers? if you check your computer management under display adapters make sure it isnt just showing VGA adaptor. If it does, install the drivers according to your graphics card make and model.

Thanks for the advice guys, will give the codecs a go. I'm pretty sure I've had those on there in the past.

Yeah, I've installed all the updates for Windows.
I'd recently switched to AVG as my anti virus, having used Kaspersky for several years before that.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
i used avg free version on xp and find it to slow down streaming video and some times agv put up a message about memory useage too low i have stop using avg .i brought a laptop with win 7 with kaspersky for 90 days had no problems with streaming .when trail ended i went for a free anti virus so im trying windows essentails it runs in back ground no slowingdown and if you go to a bad site its blocked unless you permit it. some anti virus scans dont like keygen so they panic and says your computer as got virus.avg is one ive used many years but it dont like keygen programmes .it maybe win7 or 4meg of memory or windows essentials making streaming smooth who knows.my mate uses avg and vista and 2meg of memory and it is poor on streaming very jerky play back .again could be a lack of memory .have you tried removing agv and running videos it could be agv memory usege

yep true mate, codecs shouldnt matter in the case of playing youtube videos, it was just a thought that came into my mind at the time, thats all, but either way he would still need a codec pack installed for loads of various other reasons that I wont go into, but yes, your right, codecs shouldnt matter in the case of youtube videos Hidden Content

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Interesting point about AVG slowing things down but everything seemed to be OK before I had to re-install Windows. Offline videos are playing absolutely fine.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Hello,
What browser are you using?
I have seen this issue when hardware acceleration has been enabled within the browser particularly with integrated graphics such as Intel.
If you manage to disable it yourself, be sure to close the browser fully after applying the settings.
Making sure your flash is the latest version and also sound and video drivers will also help.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Clear your browser cache
Right click on the video click settings click the folder icon and move the slider to the far right
You could also be viewing the video in an overloaded congested youtube server
You could also try out youtube feather beta.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Hello, I've always had pretty poor performance from youtube vids, I really don't know why as I have a fast connection and regularly stream HD content from other sources. Anyway, to get smooth playback, I rightclick on the vid while it is playing, select "stop download", then click play. This stops the video from buffering before playback and fixes 99% of the issues for me.

Re: Youtube videos playing slowly
Things to consider would be the quality of the video, like 1080p, 720p ect.
Try watching the video in a lower resolution rather than in HD
Try switching browser or un-install then reinstall it again ?
these are just from my personal experiences from slow videos loading slowly
Hope i helped!
