Student caught drink driving on lawnmower
A student has been stopped by police for drink driving on a lawnmower.
Joel Maunder, 18, was travelling at 15mph last month and had covered almost one mile when he was caught in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, the Daily Mail reports.
He has since been hit with a 17-month driving ban. Maunder, who police said was driving on the wrong side of the road, is also expected to pay ?100 in costs.
The prosecutor on the case stated: "[Maunder] was slowly travelling down a road when he was spotted on the Lawnflite [lawnmower] vehicle by passing police.
"He was breathalysed and found to have 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35."
Maunder, at the time, was on his father's lawnmower to visit a few friends. His mother, commenting on the ban, said: "It has been very embarrassing for us and we don't want to say any more."
