    check my quote please

Can someone in the know tell me if this is a competitive quote, as I hate having to get peeps out to give me quotes for anything but Bill said I've to get at least another one quote, but there's no point when I can get a 2nd opinion on here Hidden Content

Also I know nothing about combi boilers but I told the guy I wanted one that will run a bath quick, so will this boiler do the job ok ?

Forgot to say I'm keeping the exisiting pipework, has anyone had any issues by doing the same ?

    Cheers

He measured my existing rads which are fine and keep the house warm, and yep i like keeping the ghost warm. No mention of bathroom one as I've recently put a new heated towel rail thingie it there.

Dont know anything about combi boilers as we dont really use them here so cant advise about that sorry,

ok cheers hopefully someone else will answer then Hidden Content

When sizing your rads was he using guess work (which is ok if you know what your doing) or did he measure the rooms and then use a formula to size them?

    answered above

As for reusing the existing heating pipework, make sure he flushes out the system first,

I didn't need to check he told me it would be flushed.

And then when your happy with all the questions I have raised get three quotes and providing there are reputable company's go with the middle one.
Nooooo I hate getting quotes that why i asked here Hidden Content

    Re: check my quote please

We were told to get a worcester as it is a good, more expensive make. Also had heard that even thou it had a 5 year warranty they got a bit stropy if the full heating system hadn't been replaced. I.e all radiators and pipes.

    Re: check my quote please

that is a reasonable quote, going by fergalsworld calculation's the materials quoted and that doesnt included the new connections to disconnect the Water cylinder as the cylinder will go but you will still use that pipe work for the hot water side of the boiler, also the tanks in the loft will need draining and capping off (they will more than like try to leave them there), there are two tanks, one is the old header tank that used to fill the heating and the other is the cold water feed to the cylinder (so unless there going to leave you with mains hot water and tanked cold water will depend if that stays and they just cap the cold feed to the old cylinder)

so with a labour charge of roughly ?1370 is a good quote

a day for two to drain down and remove the cylinder, connect the pipes back as needed so you still have hot water (will get you to use the immersion for hot water for a day or so)

then another day to flush, drain and remove each radiator in turn as they will still have old black sludge inside them so its not just a matter of taking them off the wall, (carefully removed of black carpets)

a day to fit the new rads and alter the pipe work and the other fits the new boiler,

the last day would be to fill and commission the boiler and do your fire

    so 4 days for 2 people = 8 day,
    ?1370/ 8 = 171.25 per day

sounds a lot but in all fairness with unforeseen problems is a good quote

it wouldn't take much for then to convert the whole system to mains pressure, as they have to convert the hot water anyway, its just a matter of bypassing the tank in the loft, BUT then all your washers might need checking, again they will have to do this for the hot water side, the only real concern the the toilet cistern, as it will have a tank feed restrictor in it and you put mains to it it will keep over flowing, all you have to do is either fit a restrictor or fit a new torbock valve (new water cistern valve)

note: ask them what inhibitor they will use once the system is ready, Sentinal X100 is the most common,
they will use an inhibitor and it doesnt matter the make but it shows them or at least they will think your on the ball Hidden Content
