Received the DUAL unlooper and the Phoenix Programmer today!
Did the magic using the Unlooper.
@whoami/sparky - winexplorer didn't pop up the IRD of the box as you mentioned
Got a script successful message though.
Then, put the card in the programmer. NagraEdit 4.1... "One Step Backup"... Read from the card... "Save to file" (took another backup).
On the Data Editor > IRD Info - I can see quite a few fields.
Is "IRD Number" the IRD ?? It does show 4 sets of characters e.g. XX XX XX XX. But these are totally different from what I extracted from the card using the engineer's menu... (back to front... converting dec to bin on scientific calc in windows).
Which IRD is right? Or am I looking at the wrong field?
The BK seems to be ok - 8 sets of two characters.
I take it, before plugging it in, I need to put in the noise filter too?
Best regards,
pande_monium

Oh man... what a sense of achievement... doing something you've never done before AND had no clue where to start just a short while back!
Only possible thanks to you kind folks... without your guides/pointers/help, I'd surely still be struggling. First time? Never!!

A kind thank you to whoami/sparky/DD/turner... you guys made me a very happy man today.
Summarising... the IRD I saw in NagraEdit 4.1 was the right one. The one I extracted from the EM was incorrect.

Thomson, if you got some questions, put them together & start another thread, like dd asked another member earlier in the thread.

i see a 2110c is a sammy, so i guess thats the small silver sammy and not the v+ box.
iam more interested in the v+, well for now anyway i mean. but ye, i will start a new thread when i need to, cheers.
Update: There's a green blinking light on the front of the box - read somewhere that this is good because it indicates talkback cut.
Hardly mate. I know I've only scratched the surface. The only thing I've learnt now is the process. They say, the people who have the most problems learn the most... I didn't have any... but I think that's because of the generous help I received from my peers here. I suppose, as I delve deeper into this, I'll learn more aspects and problem solving.
Am totally delighted to be ABLE to pass this help on to my lost kin folk here! Woooohooooo!!
In answer to your question - yes. Its the V Box... not the V+ box.
And yes, the best way forward would indeed be to start a new thread when you're ready. In the meantime, I'd suggest you make lots of notes... it won't make a lot of sense now... but when you actually start doing the stuff, it'll make perfect sense. That's what I did personally... Give us a shout when you're ready and I'm sure there's plenty of people who'll help you along the way.
Best regards,
pande_monium
Blinking light does mean talkback is cut m8.
What you did Pande took some balls cos you could have wasted the money you spent on the unlooper, pheonix progger etc... 2110C's can be hit & miss getting the details and the rom11's can sometimes fookup when trying to unloop, so well done you as you could have quite easilly taken an easier option.

Cheers for confirming re the light mate. Nice one!
It was a no brainer for me mate... I had just too many things going in my favour!
- Great willing peers... with a lot of experience and help
- The box was a home box (well... ish)... so I knew for certain it was not hit
- I followed the advice and got the best equipment... all it cost me was about 70 quid all in... an investment which would pay for itself in 3 months max.
- The biggest lure was the ability to actually do it myself. This has always been a blackbox for me till now. I've thought about this a few times before and backed out at the last minute because I didn't know enough.
Anyway... cheers for sticking with me mate. Particular thanks go out to whoami, Thesparky, TheLostOne, Turner & DD.
Best regards,
pande_monium

Okay! So, it was good whilst it lasted!
- The Sammy 2110 got stuck with a LD:04 message.
- Tried rebooting the box, it won't come on... just shows it in standby mode... no boot-up sequence (LD... 40...).
- Tried to get into the EM, but it doesn't want to play ball.
- Tried to burn the image I'd backed up again and it comes up with an error!

Do I need to unloop the card again?

your card wont stop the box from booting m8, it mearly allows the channels to show, remove the card and boot the box,
in the post above the bd0 is blockered, depending on the blocker depends on the way to get back in, but as i say its not the card

Ok... so how do I find out what the blocker is?
BTW... I tried running the "rom11backdoor fixer updated.xvb" script. It ran successfully and said it has set the bd0 pwd to 0... F. Reran nagraedit and tried flashing the rom11 back I had again on the card, got the bd0 prompt and tried the pwd... Nope! Didn't work.
Tried to unloop the card... it went at it for almost 30min... then I aborted it.
Ran the MROM tool (hit Repair), and everything went ok !! Back to nagraedit and flashed my backed up image... OK !! Wow... not bad at all.
Problem now seems to be - The card is (or will be) ok. But the box doesn't boot up... just sitting there with the power button in Standby and nothing on the display at the front!
Going back to the question... what next? Please help!

Been doing a bit of searching mate and i found this
If its running a splitter then remove the splitter to see what happens next.
Have u accessed the E_Menu and checked the freq? Also check the SNR rates and signal quality in there.
Acess the E-Menu by powering on the box while holding in the Ch-Up and Ch-Down buttons. Box will display Ld:14 so keep holding the buttons in for 30 secs.
Now let go and the box will display PL:15 then fianlly rest on Ld:30 (wait for 45 secs amnd thge box will show snd (E-Menu) )
While looking at the SNR rates and hopefully theyre 30+db. If not move the cable feed about directly where its going into the box/tuner and see if theres anLd difference.....
Check page 8 or whatever it is and see "Possible Problems" Also check card status.
Have u tried booting with no card in? Could be an Image problem or your CAM ID has been hit by a DEAC or an area fault...
Once youve checked everything then go to page 15 i think and do a warm reset.
not my work, not sure if it will help or not i agree with thesparky mate i dont think its the card
I am glad we could help you with your problem if you need anymore advice just ask,Also if you would like to help with the running costs of the site you can always donate hereThanks in advance its very much appreciated:)
Cheers guys... but you missed my last point.
The box is NOT booting up at all... its stuck on standby. I've tried disconnecting the power cable and reconnecting... pressing the power button... using the remote to power it up. Nothing ... its just sitting there stubbornly... doing nothing at all !
Yep... tried taking the card out and booting it too. Still nothing. Its been 20 hrs and nothing's happened to it so far.

Update !!
A million thanks go out to TheLostOne for digging up the answer to this riddle. Hidden Content Hidden Content Hidden Content
Hats off to you buddy... ! I'll take the liberty of posting your answer here so that someone along the way will benefit from your hard work. If you don't feel I should, please feel free to edit/delete this post... hey, you've got the power :Hidden Content : !
Right, to unravel he mystery... 4 of the 6 capacitors on the power supply unit inside the Sammy have popped. These 6 caps are numbered C11, C12, C13 in the centre of the board, C14, C15, C16 along the left side.
These caps need to be replaced. Their current spec is 1000uF 10v... but, as TLO suggests, these need to be replaced with 1000uF 16v from Hidden Content (?0.40/cap)... Part number is DT69A.
Best regards,
pande_monium
thats great news, i really hope members will learn from this that the card had nothing to do with the box from working, and so not to just jump to a card error
i will report a tho, as from last monday any old rom10 image will return an AP53 error
well not exactly an error but the box will freeze at ap53
this is a new problem but only effects a 4000 pace box on 3.3 or higher
this is first published here on @WOD by thesparky,
the simple way around it is:
boot the box as normal without a card and then put in the card once the box has updated
enjoy

Update (final, I hope!)
Changed all the 6 caps with the ones from Maplin (DT69A - 1000uF 16v), plugged it in and the box booted up beautifully !! Woohoo!
Had to re-flash it with rom 11 image though.
