Nice one. Does this work for gloss also? Gloss is oil based where emulsion is water based?
Going to try this next time also. Thanks !!
providing the bag is air tight there is no need to even put them in a freezer.Just make sure the bag has no holes in it and put a elastic band around the bag and handle should be ok for a month or 2. I have done this many times and both roller and brush have been fine.
thanks mate , im 4ever buying new brushes and rollers, will try this weekend
another way to store brushes with oil based paints on them is simply leave them in water - just flick the water off before you use it - stays soft for months
Sweet mate i am actually in the process of decorating at the moment and this would real prove to be handy as every time i go to decorate i buy new brushes and i am into conserving things or giving them more uses. So i too will be trying this one out!
Thanks for the tip "blueeyes"
I actually recently did this idea of sealing wall paper paste we mixed up but didnt use and it was good for 3 days anyway (as we had used it all by then)
works a treat with gloss
doesnt it make the freezer stink
another thing you can do is simply wrap the roller or brush in cling film.
works a =treat, but you should always make sure that you make a nixce tight seal or you will get a dry part rendering it scrap.
im a decorator it only takes five mins to wash out a roller but we do bag up rollers if using same colour next day also we use a brush box for oil brushes this keeps oil brushes soft for years and you just take a brush out of the box and straight into your paint but theyre quite expensive so the tip about water is good or clean them out
yep , agree with leo , bag for rollers if your using same colour regularly , use brushmate box for oil based , dead convenient if your using every day
everytime ive used my brish i just put it in a cup full of water and leave it till the next time i never new u could put it in the freezer first ive heard about that so thank u very much cause ime always painting and that will make my work alot easyier 4 me.
lool i just cant believe how bone idle some of you are freezing a paint brush ffs by the time you wrap it up you could clean it out and tbh if its not a quality brush throw it away
dont be lazy
do wot i do get the wife to clean them
got a long way togo on the home improvements but thanks for the bagged roller tip, helped a treat! i don't recommend the freezer suggestion though...it makes the whole box smell like paint Hidden Content
It does work but I had to wait well over an hour for the brushes and roller to thaw out,
You could buy the cheapo brushes and rollers, not bother washing them and buy new each time
Do you do this after you have had you dinner also,, to save on cleaning ths dishs,
You dont need to stick them in the freezer, I was working with painters there and they just stick all the rollers in plastic bags and tape them shut and the paint stays fresh for a few weeks as long as the bag isnt full of air Hidden Content .
