    SB5100 No flash detected

    Hi all.

I am having problems with a SB5100 after a flash failed. I was using a tcniso blackcat cable and their software and it was going ok but failed to verify about 60%. now I'm getting the no flash detected error. the broadcom chip is identified ok.
I have tried the method using a piece of wire from the +3.3v regulator across the top 5 pins on the 10 pin header and also the running the screwdriver across the legs on the intel flash chip but both do not work for me.

it is not the usb jtag and i'm using SchwarzeKatze v1.34.
I have also tried using JtagUtility v1.3 but get the Address out of range error.

Any ideas guys? been at it most of the day, and it's driving me up the wall now Hidden Content

Hmm odd,you double checked the pin header is connected properly on the board?

Does take quite a while with jtag.

what fw have you flashed on the 5100? if you have flashed a 3349 on a 3348 then the only option you have then is to lift the tsop and use a willem to erase and rewrite the tsop...this looks like the only way you are ever going to get the modem back to life

Hi the broadcom on a sb5100 is 3348 if you have flashed say haxoware on the sb5100 then its bricked as that fw is broadcom 3349 when using blackcat it always seems to fail at around 68% it ll re rite that block 3 times then fail, all you need to do is click continue then let the flash finnish and it will still work, you should never end the flash process half way through, if no flash detected then it sure is bricked, with the referance to the willem make sure it can do the flash chip (tsop) and all the correct drivers are installed etc

Cheers m8, that is what I did, tried to flash it with haxorware :'( so the methods i've tried to get it to detect the flash will never work? I guess not.
The willem has never worked correctly. if I try to id the chip maybe it will id ok 1 in 20 attempts.

    Re: SB5100 No flash detected

Lol I did the above to two modems in the past, newbie mistakes, I recently tried to revive one modem, it seemed ok detected broadcom, but after I reset the modem, no broadcom... (did not do anything but power down pc, go for some food come back and bam now it does not detect broadcom...).

Very weird indeed. I did reflash the mentioned modem a few dozen times when I initially bricked it, think maybe something has burned out on the modem etc? Just gonna toss mine on the wall as some kinda art Hidden Content , will turn heads at least Hidden Content .
