    Commands for safe guarding modems

    here are some commands to safe guard you modem from hits by v* specialy for
    modems with infinite firmware
    with thanks to gentlex



    To Change Mac Addresses.

    Code:
    cd /non-vol/halif
    mac_address 1 00:11:22:33:44:55
    Usb_mac_address 00:11:22:33:44:56
    write
    -------------------------------

    Block All Remote Updates.

    Code:
    cd \
    cd non-vol
    cd snmp
    max_dload_tries 0
    write
    --------------------------------

    250 Serial Numba.

    Code:
    cd \
    cd non-vol
    cd snmp_cm
    docsDevSerialNumber 00E069C62A22 [ your mac addy in capitals]
    write

    Pass & Username Change.

    some More Stealth Commands
    and useful commands, from what ive collected around the forums
    be carefull, do some research before diving in with some of these

    Next open a HyperTerminal,
    Then select:
    Port: TCP/IP (Winsock)
    Host address: 192.168.100.1 Leave the port number as 23
    Broadcom Corporation Embedded Telnet Server (c) 2000-2003
    WARNING: Access allowed by authorized users only.
    Press enter and enter the following login and password:
    Login: admin
    Password: infinite

    WARNING: It is possible to crash the system, cause a deadlock,
    or cause the connection to be shut down via Telnet.
    Run commands with caution!
    Console now switched to Telnet session...
    Scanning DS Channel at 240000000 Hz...
    Scanning DS Channel at 249000000 Hz...
    We are now back in the console using telnet. It should be scanning for a frequency to lock onto. We want to stop this so copy and paste these cmds separately.

    cd \cm_hal
    scan_stop
    cd \
    scanning should no be stopped, so now you can enter the commands
    --------------------------------
    Disable Reading your Modem with snmp commands.

    cd /
    cd snmp
    view_v1v2 Noaccess
    cd /
    you will have to accept the warning when working with snmp commands IE: (yes)
    --------------------------------
    disable remote telnet.

    cd non-vol
    cd msg-log
    telnet_ipstacks 2
    write
    --------------------------------
    250 Change http web login, defaults are
    user: Infinite / pass: SetValue

    cd /
    cd \non
    cd msg
    http_admin youruser yourpass
    write
    -------------------------------
    (cleans out your modems log)

    cd /
    cd event _log
    flush
    --------------------
    (hides your modems IP #)

    cd /
    cd non-vol
    cd snmp
    hide_ipstack_ifentries true
    write
    --------------------
    how to find out the TFTP server Ip, gateway Ip, HFC (Private Net#) IP
    here's a command to find that out and a little bit more;

    cd /
    cd docsis
    ip_show
    ------------------------------------------
    Remove information from our modem (not sure what this does exactly)

    cd DocsisCtl
    modem_caps
    cd / CD /
    -----------------------
    release your Ip address so the isp cant tell that the modem is registered.

    cd ip
    ipconfig 1 release
    --------------------
    Hide system OID

    cd snmp
    delete sysDescr
    write
    cd \
    --------------------
    change the start up downstream frequency
    for faster load up time

    cd n /d
    startup_dsfreq xxxxxx <- mhz u are on ex 711000000
    cd ..
    write
    -------------------

    Hi,

    are these telnet commands?
    on hyperterminal after halting boot process i try to use these commands but apparently they are unrecognised

    telnet from command prompt doesnt reach the modem on port 23 for some reason..

    anyone have any ideas?

    Sounds like telnet has been disabled on your modem.
