    Angry D box dead , almost !

    I have just recently flashed an image to my nokia d box 2. It will not come back to life now. I think the problem is, I have loaded the image manually instead of 'without bootloader' . Initially when the box comes on there is some alaphanumarical text on the lcd screen, then 'loading kernal'(on the screen). The tv picture is totally green and the text on the display goes blank. I guess i can no longer program the box via the network port. So i will have to do it with the null modem cable rs232(which i have). Does anyone know the procedure for this ? Do i use hyper terminal ? What are the baud rate settings? etc,etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    give the book a read at work today. Is there a default ip address the dbox would reset to ? or do I have to use 232 ?

    Re: D box dead , almost !

    If you use a null modem cable you will get a usable console. If you aren't put off by this command line interface, you can use the u-boot command "printenv" to see the IP address.

    It prints a stack of stuff. There should be a line like "ipaddr=192.168.0.23".

    My PC refused to play with my dbox2 when I used IFA. I got this list, with no IP address.

    => printenv
    bootcmd=setenv bootargs console=$(console) root=/dev/mtdbl
    s2; fsload; protect off 10020000 107fffff; bootm
    bootdelay=1
    baudrate=9600
    console=null
    lcd_inverse=0
    lcd_contrast=15
    stdin=serial
    stdout=serial
    stderr=serial
    ethaddr=*************
    ethact=SCC ETHERNET
    bootargs=console=null root=/dev/mtdblock2 rw rootfstype=jffs2

    Environment size: 353/16380 bytes

    Re: D box dead , almost !

    Thanks for all the advice . Sneeked away from work at lunch time and downloaded IFA . I will try to fix the problem tonight. Any idea if you can use a usb to serial (LAPTOP DOES NOT HAVE SERIAL PORT)for the nullmodem connection to dbox. If not I will use the pc upstairs (It has a serial port)

    Use both ethernet crossover cable and nullmodem cable together and use the pc upstairs with the serial port save all the messing about.

    Whoops, sorry, I missed that ethernet address. I will be more careful next time.

    Is there any grief with MAC address cloning?

    I had another quick check of the "World of Digital Forum rules". it says "Under no circumstances will we allow codes, serial numbers or key-gens to be posted on the forum".
