Exotic supercars like the McLaren 765LT and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale weren't built for quarter-mile drag racing. But thanks to their immense power and grip, they can put up some astonishing numbers at the strip. The LT in particular has already impressed us at the strip multiple times. But even it can't hold its own against Ferrari's hybrid supercar.
The DragTimes YouTube channel brought together an SF90 Stradale and a 765LT for a straight-up quarter-mile drag race to see which would be quickest. The McLaren makes 755 horsepower from a twin-turbo V-8, sending power to only the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It has a significant disadvantage against the Ferrari, which makes 769 horsepower from its V-8, plus another 217 hp from two front-mounted electric motors.
That disadvantage comes to light almost immediately on the strip. While the 765 struggles for traction off the line, the Ferrari launches without drama and takes off into the distance. It's able to lay down a 9.55-second quarter-mile at 145 mph. The McLaren finishes in 10.4 seconds at 142 mph.
