We've lost count of the number of videos we've seen of the Tesla Model S Plaid laying down insanely quick times at the drag strip. Despite its massive weight, the all-electric super sedan is able to put up consistent nine-second runs in the quarter-mile, defeating everything from new supercars to purpose-built drag monsters. But it's not totally immune to defeat against ICE-powered street cars, as this 1000-hp Mustang demonstrates. The Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel was on the scene at World Wide Technology Raceway, a drag strip in Madison, Illinois, to film a couple of roll races between a new Model S Plaid and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 modded to 1000 hp by Palm Beach Dyno. The races are super-close, but it's the Shelby that comes out on top both times. It's not just roll racing where the Shelby comes out on top. Towards the end of the video, we're shown individual standing quarter-mile runs of each car, and again it's the GT500 that lays down the quicker time.
