Track rats, rejoice. There's a new Porsche 911 GT3 RS on the way. Judging by this latest spy video to emerge from industry testing at the Nürburgring, it's shaping up to be one of the most extreme road cars the company has ever made.Video from a recent industry test pool session at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany shows a 992-generation Porsche 911 covered in extreme aero bits, including a new front bumper cover, a vented hood, a massive diffuser, and an absolutely gigantic wing out back. The body kit fitted to what we believe is a prototype for the new GT3 RS isn't what has us intrigued, though. If you watch the video closely, you'll see a small flap towards the back of that massive wing that pops up under braking, and folds down under acceleration. That's right: For the first time, Porsche may be adding active aero to a GT3 model. There's no way of knowing if this piece of tech will make it to the production model, of course. But seeing as how it's on the car this late into the testing stage, there's a good chance we could see the flap make it in. Unlike other active aero systems, which have the entire wing element shift under acceleration and deceleration (McLaren is a good example), it's only the small blade on the bigger fixed structure that moves here.Judging by the car's sound, the GT3 RS will likely stay naturally aspirated for the 992 generation and use a dual-clutch PDK gearbox, just like the last-generation car. Considering the standard 992 GT3 can run a sub-seven-minute Nürburgring lap, we have no doubt this RS model will be quick.
