Inbuilt freeview freezing
Hi chaps, I have an odd problem with my TV, its a Matsui (I know) of some type with inbuilt freeview, basically when I turn it on, unless I change the channel within about 5 seconds, it will freeze and I have the turn it off from the TV i.e. not using the remote. The only way round this seems to be changing the channel immediately using the numbers on the remote, if I use the EPG it still freezes. Easy work around you might think, but I've put up with it for 6+ months and it is starting to do my head in.
Any suggestions that aren't "buy a new TV"? Thanks.

Have you tried to retune it in lately .....as a lot of the channels have changed over the last few months ?

Hi Gazer thanks for the reply, yes I have tried retuning as I also have another weird problem where none of the UKTV channels (Dave, Really, Drama etc) have a watchable signal upstairs, even though the same aerial feed is being used downstairs with no problem! Granted the signal is going through a splitter, but previously the splitter -> bedroom connection had no problem tuning UKTV channels, so I don't think it is a cable issue?

I would deffo try without the splitter just so you can rule it out.

Tried without the splitter, fixed the channel problem but no dice with the freezing.

I presume you've checked the aerial connectors, cant really see it being that as you've already said a channel jump or switching it off at the TV solves it.

Yes I checked the connectors, I assume its something to do with the actual tuner, I tried a software reset but nothing changed. Think I'll have to get another TV tbh. Now to convince the missus!

Think that could be the only way forward
Unless you try swapping the TVs around and see if the bedroom one will work in place of the other and try retuning it there

That would be even more difficult than convincing the missus Hidden Content , its one of the big old pioneers which are essentially a monitor with external tuner. More trouble than it is worth getting that upstairs! Cheers for the suggestions though

how close are you to the transmitter?
overly strong signals cause just as many issues as weak ones.
if you disconnect the aerial altogether
does the set run ok?
