not everyone is lucky enough to have great health. would a section like this helpful to anyone even if its just to know they are not suffering alone, help, advice or support of fellow sufferers??

i think it is a very good idea, where we can discuss our grandmother remedies ,sometimes they are more effective than taking medicines with lot of side effects.

Na I would say its probably a bad idea getting medical advise on the internet from people you dont really know that well as it could end up doing you more bad than good, we have the NHS in the U.K. and its free so best of to go and see your doctor if all is not well, and as for the support I dont think that most people would want to have their problems posted on the internet for everyone to read best of to ring the samaratins.

Am sorry to disagree but this is a bad idea,if you start giving advice to people on there health then you should be trained to do so and be able to give them the after care and support they would need.

Tell me this what would everyone do if someone came in and they were suicidal?

Like i said, dont think it would be good for the site.

Agree with Scott & y2k on this one. Could be futile, unless we have fully qualified doc's on the forums?

    Re: health/medical section

In theory it sounds a good idea, but taking into account the previous posts, I think you might be better just phoning NHS direct. There could be a case for it if it was confined to simple subjects such as; Have you tried night nurse, or can you recommend a cold or cough remedy or something for warts that actually works. It could be useful in this way to cut through the advertising hype and give personal experiences of a product.
Perhaps if the thread was called something like "Recommended Health products", or Have you had any bad experiences with medicines", then it might work. I can see problems moderating such a thread though and because everyones physical make up is different, it could be a bit ill advised. (no pun intended). Hidden Content
