    Ram problem

I recently bought a 1gb ram module for my laptop.
I added it to the existing 512mb.
Everything was fine for about 3 days, then one morning it would not start up.
After about 8 hours i found that the new ram stick was f_cked.

After taking a closer look at my system i found out that this laptop has dual channel ram and that to use this technology you need to install ram of the same type and capacities.

Could this be why the ram chip fried???

    The origional 512mb ram survived

    Any ideas anyone??

    Re: Ram problem

Im not 100% sure about your laptop but my pc memory needed to be set to dual channel in the bios, I read somewere before that the memory would need to be matching to run as dual channel but dont think it would fry the memory if it wasnt matching. Try taking it of dual channel in the bios "if its on" and see if that fixes it.
