My pal has just bought a new 500-c and over the phone ive been trying to help him set it up but straight away we hit problems cause the communications werent setup correctly, its been quite some time since i flashed mines so my memory is very rusty on it.

Anyway, can someone please give me a typical example of what the ip's should be set to on the dreambox, the pc and the flashwizardpro, we'v been going round in circles trying this and that and it keeps saying cant connect etc, its starting to pizz us right off, i think he's about to throw the thing out the window, LOL...

Appreciate any help.

If I can get a typical example of what the ip's should be set to then i will either write them down or make a text file so as i know in future cause ive got a funny feeling this wont be the last time we will need to be flashing etc, lol.

Put the ip address of your Dreambox in flashwizard not your network card ip m8.

yes mate :), so that would be >>

dreambox ip =192.168.0.7
computer network connection ip =192.168.0.8
flashwizardpro =192.168.0.7

correct ? :)

I see your problem m8

dreambox ip =192.168.0.8
computer network connection ip =192.168.0.7
flashwizardpro =192.168.0.8

Your dreambox ip should be +1 to your computer. I have change them round on example how it should look.

or

dreambox ip =192.168.0.7
computer network connection ip =192.168.0.6
flashwizardpro =192.168.0.7

Nadum35, are you connecting to the dreambox via a router or just using a crossover cable?

I have just got my first dreambox 500c and managed to successfully flash an image on to it, but I have noticed that every time i put a different image on the dreambox it resets the ip address setting to whatever is stored on the dreambox image that has been freshly installed.

For instance using a router giving out dhcp addresses my dreambox gets an address of 192.168.1.7, but once i upload an image to the dreambox and reboot, then the network settings on the dreambox have changed to to a static ip address of 192.168.0.200 and i can obviously no longer communicate with the dreambox because of this. What I generally have to do is go to settings > setup > network setup and change the ip address from static to dhcp. When the box reboots it will then get the 192.168.1.7 address again, and i can ftp into it.

If you are using a crossver cable you would need to manually set your network address on the pc and the dreambox.

pc address 192.168.0.6
dreambox address 192.168.0.7

once you have the ip addresses of both devices configured then you need to make sure you are communicating between both.

On your pc go to START > RUN > type in this box "CMD"
at the dos prompt type "ping 192.168.0.7 -t" assuming your drembox is this ip address.

if the address is correct you will get a valid ping return continuously showing on screen
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
eply from 172.16.0.30: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128

obviously your ip would be 192.168.0.7

leave this running in the backlground

Run Flashpro wizard and flash your box

when it reboots you will probably lose connection to your dreambox. from the setup screen on the new image on your dreambox go to the setup> network and change the IP address back from static to DHCP address.

sorry if everything here is not perfect but i'm in work and trying to remeber it from memory.

just use dreamup to flash your box as long as the file is .img and you have a null modem cable it erases and installs new flash in under 5 mins just untick network first dont plug in your power cable then hit connect it tells you to plug in box then hit flash then it asks do you want to erase flash then you say ja then leave it to do the flash
