... according to sources close to the software giant, business customers with either an enterprise license or software assurance deal will be able to get hold of the software on November 30th. While consumers will have to wait for the official launch on January 30th 2007. This falls in line with what Microsoft had previously stated.

The consumer launch will signify the time when we?ll be able to buy retail versions of Vista or alternatively buy desktop and notebook systems with the new OS installed.

MS have also lifted restrictions on hardware upgrades.

Our intention behind the original terms was genuinely geared toward combating piracy; however, it?s become clear to us that those original terms were perceived as adversely affecting an important group of customers: PC and hardware enthusiasts. You who comprise the enthusiast market are vital to us for several reasons, not least of all because of the support you?ve provided us throughout the development of Windows Vista. We respect the time and expense you go to in customizing, building and rebuilding your hardware and we heard you that the previous terms were seen as an impediment to that -- it?s for that reason we?ve made this change. I hope that this change provides the flexibility you need, and gives you more reason to be excited about the upcoming retail release of our new operating system.

I thought that it was only the BBC that had said what the release dates were.
I did not know that microshaft had issued the release dates.

Dont know what they have changed but I ran the vista upgrade advisor on my laptop and it says that it could take vista but wouldnt do it a couple of months ago, it would probably only take the basic vista and run very slow.
