Any recommendations in how to spot fake duo cards? I wanted to get a 4GB or 2GB card from ebay but the talk of fake ones has put me off.

have a look at these 2 guides an see what you think,

the reviews an pics should give you an idea but it seems that it may not be too bad depending on price.

I brought a 2gb sandisk card from ebay for about ?30, obviously i knew it was going to be fake because of the price.

I haven't had any problems with it though, it's worked fine for about 6 months now.

For the price i think its worth it, fake or not.

If you are going to buy of ebay just buy of a power seller to be safe.

The fake duos are compatible cards, theyr cheaper cos of lower quality. Similar to original and compatible printer ink cartridges.

I currently have a 2Gb Memory card that i got from eBay, come in sony packaging and looked good, obviously fake as it was only ?23 but it has been working faultlessly since april this year.

What are the downsides of fake cards as i can't find any yet?

i think the down side is mainly the transfer rate or something like that. They also seem to work well for a while then just die. but i think people have mixed experience with them. ive always stuck with sandisk memory sticks for my psp. just got a 4gb which im happy with

when u saying the memory cards just die do you mean they just stop working and can they cause any damage to the psp

I bought 2Gb memory card from Ebay over a year ago now for about ?90 in those days, still going fine. It would be a good idea if people posted data tranfer rates to determine speeds.

If you can get a half price card that is reliable, then I think it's a no brainer!!
