Can somebody recommend a good quality paint stripper, I don't really want to use an Electric Stripper in case I burn the wood.

Methylene Chloride "MEC" is good but I think its quite hard to get, this will take the paint of anything and another good thing is cellulose thinners which is easily available.

yes ether is a good stripper its a by product of ethanol will strip paint rite back to the bare metal

Another is Nitro-Mors available from all DIY shops.

Also takes paint back to the metalwork, works especially well on cars!!!!

I am speaking from experience. Some one did it to one of my cars a few years back.
