I'm running XP pro and recently I am unable to click on links either on web sites or from Outlook Express. Anybody know how to fix it?

Can you copy the links into a new browser window and them work? if so it sounds like a problem I had a while back think it was a spyware/virus problem that had something to do with req.dll if I rember correctly

Messin:
Yep, I cancopy shortcut and paste. No problem.
y2krog2000:
No m8 it won't allow me. I have run the following updated software so far: Spyware Doctor, Trend micro anti-spyware, Ewido anti-spyware, XoftSpy SE, Trustsoft Antispyware, Advanced Spyware, BPS Spyware Remove, Spy Sweeper, Spy Emergency 2005, whilst running zone alarm Security Suite and Lavasoft AD-Watch. Non have found a problem.
Shipoftheline:
Yes m8 it was already default mail client and I did what you said just to make sure, but it hasn't made any differance.

Have you tried resetting your settings back to default in interent options. Try internet options, advanced tab the restore defaults and then apply.

Found this on the net dont know if it works for u,
Close Internet Explorer and Outlook Express if either are open.
Start/run "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" (without the quotes)
Control panel/Internet options/programs tab, click on "reset all web
settings"
Reopen and retry the links in Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
If that fails I would just switch to firefox.

Do you get any items in the popup menu when you right mouse on a link? Do any of them work correctly?

The second link applies to IE 4.01, but with luck the first link will sort out the issue
You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281679)
'Open in New Window' Command Does Not Work in Internet Explorer (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q180176/)

I had the same problem a few months back.
I couldn't fix it, but about a week ago it just started working again by its self.
a mate of mine said xp must have updated a driver 7 then reupdated it agian its self to fix it. ????
