a friend emailed me this top 10 list from a radio survey of best guitar solos of all-time. I'm surprised people didn't dilute it with more recent performers.

The top ten in full:

1. 'Comfortably Numb' - Pink Floyd
2. 'Sweet Child O'Mine' - Guns N'Roses
3. 'Freebird' - Lynryd Skynryd
4. 'Eruption' - Van Halen
5. 'November Rain' - Guns N' Roses
6. 'Stairway to Heaven' - Led Zeppelin
7. 'Sultans of Swing' - Dire Straits,
8. 'Aqualung' - Jethro Tull,
9. 'Hotel California' - The Eagles
10. 'Child In Time' - Deep Purple.

If your into guitar solos you should listen to the now disbanded dutch band Focus. The lead gutarist Jan Akkerman was superb. He released a few
solo albums after they split.

This is one of those post that will seldom bring agreement...so for me...
Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC Angus Young is top notch, also solo in studio version of Riff Raff, awesome, but then, Motorhead Killed By Death, the solo at the start of that song is a cracker, early ZZTop, solo's in some of their blues tracks will blow you away...there are millions of solo's to pick from, each one special to someone.

1. Stairway to heaven - Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
2. Eruption - Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen)

5. All along the watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
6. November rain - Slash (Guns N' Roses)
