This video is the definition of "threading the needle."

Spec-series races are always great to watch because they highlight driver skill more than anything. Because everyone has the same car, the only differentiating factor is the person behind the wheel. That's plainly evident in this video of one driver passing 17 cars in one lap of a Spec Miata race recently.
This race took place in mid-June 2019, and the Miata we're onboard with is the #186 car, piloted by Teen Mazda Challenge driver Roy Fulmer. According to the National Auto Sports Association, Fulmer routinely starts near the front of the pack, but was forced to start towards the rear for the second race of the day. What followed was a chaotic start with countless close calls, and plenty of impressive maneuvers. Sonoma isn't the widest track around, and its lack of true straightaways make passing a challenge. Yet, Fulmer seems to do it with ease.
Fulmer was able to pass a total of 17 cars on the first lap, and a further 17 cars throughout the rest of the race, for a total of 34 spots. Sadly, because the race started with 58 entries, Fulmer finished all the way down in 21st place, despite his efforts. Still, all those passes are worth commending.
