Background:

It is now possible to install the Official Media Browser for Roku Beta Channel onto the Now TV box.

The Now TV box is a re-branded Roku LT, but is only available in the United Kingdom and is marketed by SKY TV, as an "easy way to get live and on-demand entertainment straight to your TV".

The Now TV box costs ?9.99 including FREE P&P, which is an excellent deal, as there are already a number of FREE channels included, such as Sky News, BBC News, BBC iPlayer etc. (full list here).

The cheapest Roku LT I can find today is around ?30.

The Now TV service also allows you to have a subscription for either, or both, of the Sky Movies or Sky Sports packages at a cost of ?8.99 per month (or a 24-hour pass for ?9.99 !!).

Now TV setup:

When you receive the Now TV box, set it up as per the instructions - you will need to create an account on the Now TV website as this is how the box connects to the Now TV service.

Once that is completed (which may include a firmware update), you will need to enable the Roku DEVELOPER MODE.

Enabling Developer Mode.

To do this, press the following button combination on the remote:

Home 3x, Up 2x, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right

You will be presented with the Developer Settings page:

Select Enable Developer mode and select I Agree twice.

Once done, you can start to install the MB3 Roku plugin.

MB3 Roku Plugin Installation:

To install the MediaBrowser3 Roku plugin onto your Now TV box, you will need to "side-load" a zip file which is downloadable from here.

Once you have downloaded the zip file, enter the IP address of your Now TV box into a browser.

You will then see a page similar to this:

zDev-Mode.jpg

Click on the CHOOSE FILE button and navigate to where the zip file is (DO NOT UNZIP THE ZIP FILE).

Then click on INSTALL button. This will "side-load" the zip file to the Now TV box.

If successful, you should get a page similar to this:

zDev-Mode2.jpg

Press home on your Now TV remote and you should see the MediaBrowser channel on the right-end of the list of channels.

Repeat these steps if/when an updated zip file is released.

If you have multiple Now TV boxes, then you will need to do this for each one.
