Printers are office necessities, even in our current world of tablets and smartphones. However, if you’re one of those who think that they’re too bulky for our current “tiny is awesome” generation, then perhaps you share the same vision as these guys, who conceptualized a portable printer that prints on your paper by running on it.

The Mini Mobile Robotic Printer is as it sounds; a small Roomba-like robot that runs on paper to print documents. The core idea seems to have taken the bulk of a printer’s cartridge holding unit, put some wheels on them, and order it to print that way. The result though is an innovation that could put even the thinnest portable printers today to shame.

The basic prototype allows printing on A4 paper, and as you may have observed from the demonstration video, it does so at an incredibly carefree pace. Once developed though, we could foresee these drawbacks eliminated, or at least greatly minimized, with the unit even able to print on paper sizes way beyond what your normal desktop office printer can do.

Zuta Labs plans to take the Mini Mobile Robotic Printer out of the concept stage using the Kickstarter funding it would get. The company is ready to provide early bird units for their faithful backers that would pledge at least $180 or more for the project. Cross your fingers though, and hope that it gets funded on time for its projected commercial availability next year.
