I have a very uneven floor in my house it slopes over to one side of the room. It's chipboard. Any Ideas how I can level the floor before laying carpet? Whithout lifting the existing floor up.

try to take the chipboard up without breaking it . then on the floor joists fasten long wedged packers then lay the chipboard back down . its a slow job but it will level up the floor . if u just pack one end the floor will bounce so long wedged packers is the way to go . good luck rather u than me slow and boring job .

or if u can lift the floor joists just pack under them alot easyer to do if u can lift the joists

If laying laminate, you may be able to make up the difference in underlay, can get thick underlay.

If very uneven, may need to use hardboard or levelling board if upstairs, downstairs if possible you could use self levelling compound

because your laying carpet if u want cost effect min time spent job got no bounce the floor sound no cracks and the slope is not2steep u should get away with screeding it otherwise start at the bottom and fix joists

I suppose it would depend how badly it slopes, if its not severe u could try a self-leveling compound.
