Can anyone shed light on the purpose of the Ethernet port fitted to the Pace (or any) uk DVBC boxes?
Has anyone done any debug on this?

Urr, apologies again if already asked (!) :)

The boxes have a built in modem, designed for use if you subscribe to tv & broadband - obviously of no use on a modded box!

Ah, I thought that data users were allways shipped a dedicated docsis modem. Is it fair to say the service (on a legit box) can be connected to through via the stb?

The ethernet port is to network the box. So PC or other devices can talk to it. Can be used to connect to server from dbox directly.

Appreciate this. Often these ports are fitted although not enabled. I'm interested to learn if it has any function with stock firmware.
