Does anyone no anyway of getting information off a crashed hard drive,
I can not see it in my computer(icon) but can see it in disc manager, but it doesn't have a drive letter and keeps asking me to format it

Have you tried removing the device driver in the control panel/system/hardware/device manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers ? You could try that and re-boot to see if windows picks it back up.

is it spinning up?
can you see it in bios?
as the other gent says
there are lots of free utils you can use
testdisk 6.4 is one i have used to very good effect
restoration.exe is also good one i have found once it shows in wexp.
