The standard ports are:

Outgoing mail (SMTP) = 25
Incoming mail (POP3) = 110

If you can tell us exactly what the error message says we might be able to help better

Cheers

Don't touch anything in the advanced tab m8!

You only need to get the servers tab sorted out, sounds like you have not put in the correct server for YOUR ISP ie it should be

My incoming mail server is (POP3) or whatever ..your ISP will give you details of what you need on their website!

incoming mail (pop3) "mail.plusnet.net" substitute your isp connect details
outgoing mail (smtp) "relay.plusnet.net" --------" ---------

account name (your account name)
password (your password)

Get these details correct from your isp and you will be sorted!

let us know if for some reason you input the correct details and it still dont work!

Try outlook because it will give you the error code or create a new user and log on and enter the details again and it will work
