Hi all,i keep getting this update 8024200D= Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86 (KB2604105)

Installation date: ‎01/‎11/‎2012 12:00

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 8024200D

Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified that could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to compromise your system and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system.

This is running on windows Vista and it has failed to install approx ten times, looked on microsoft website but found no answer. There was some program available on there that i tried and this also did not resolve the issue.

Anybody any idea a way round this problem, and if its really important as im not sure what this does anyway? thanks all in advance, olly

You could try unistalling all references to .net framework and re install all the updates again,
but i would not bother just change your update settings to "notify me but don't down load updates let me choose"
w7/vista
click on update icon in systray
then when it notifies you have updates right click on the problematic update and choose hide update then click ok
XP
click yellow shield in systray when it appears untick box on problem update click ok and tick box saying don't notify me of this update again.

Then you can change the update setting back to what it was.

From reading here https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasetup/thread/01030e17-a6f0-4b2c-8872-a26dd06a99f9 it is quite common and from what i can gather people get round it by formatting and installing all updates minus service pack until its the last one
