Ive been asked a few times via PM on how to upgrade the Dash on Jtag/RGH consoles so i thought i would write this to help those who need a guide :)

This is a guide on how to update your jtag/RGH console via Xell :)

Things you will need -

1. A xbox which has a older dash on and you want to install a newer dash on :)
2. Firefox installed on your PC
3. A usb stick i use a 4 gig Store and Go and that works fine but some xboxes are a bit picky and only let you use cetain usb flash drives so having a couple is always handy :)
4. Your xbox connected to the pc via ethernet cable. I dont know if this works when using wireless so im not going to cover that as ive not got a wireless router lol
5. Jrunner from TX installed on your pc. If you get a older version just pdate it via the program :)
6. The offical MS update for the dahboard you are upgrading to just go t xbox.com and download the one you want this is for avatar items when you have upgraded.

1. Turn on your xbox with the eject button. Now im assuming you have a later version of xell installed on your xbox. If you turn it on and nothing comes up on the creen you may have to change your cable to VGA, or component so you can see the writing as the older versions of xell didnt support HDMI but when you have updated you will be able to see xell with a HDMI cable connected.
2. Wait for the writing to come up on the screen and load up. When it all has and you have your xbox connected to your PC via a router you will be given a ip address at the bottom it will look something like 192.168.0.2.
3. The ip address you see needs putting into the address bar on FIREFOX ie is problematic and may not work properly so Firefox is the one it supports.
4. WHen you have done that you will be greeted with a xell screen on the PC. You need a few things off this page saving to your desktop so make a folder on your desktop called Nand Dumps. Click the download button and download the Raw Flash and save it to your nand folder on your desktop. Repeat this twice as you need two dumps. Save the Key Vault too and copy and paste the CPU Key and DVD Key to notepad and save to the same folder as you need the CPU Key later on in Jrunner.
5. So in your folder you should have 2 nand dumps, CPU key txt and KV info in that folder on the desktop.
6. You can turn the xbox off for a while now while we get the nand sorted out ready to go back on :)

Using Jrunner

1. Run Jrunner on your pc and have alook at the program. You will see Source File, and additional file. You need to click the box on the right of that and load the 2 nand dumps you made earlier.
2. Click the nand compare after just to make sure the nands are the same
3. Copy and paste your CPU key into the CPU Key box. It should say CPU Key correct. If it doesnt check you have copied it correctly.
4. Now you need to go to the Dash Version Box at the top of the screen click the drop down box and click add dash. Tick the ones you want to download im using the latest 16197 for this so tick the box and download it then highlight 16197 so that is selected after its downloaded.
5. If your using a Jtagged xbox click the jtag bullet or if its RGH click the Glitch bullet.
6. Im using RGH so the Glitch bullet is Highlighted and the RGH drop down box is set for RGH nt RGH 2 as im still on RGH1 If you have RGH2 select RGH2 its not rocket science lol
7. Next set your launch ini Options. Set Dashlaunch how you want it and click save so you havent got to do it next time when you upgrade the dash :). Ive got all the default ones set with Autoswap ticked for games such as mass effect which require 2 discs :) That works fine for me but if your using FSD dont tick that as it may cause you problems lol
8. Now click the create image button. Select the style of xbox you are using im selecting Trinity as i have a slim which is glitched :) and then click ok.
9. Click the Show working folder so you can get the files you need to upgrade. The one you need copying to the USB stick is the updflash.bin copy that to the usb stick.
10. Here is where it could get a bit messy depending on which version of Xell you have you may have to alter the name of that updflash.bin file. Im assuming you have the later version which is the one with a blue screen in xell. Just plug that into your xbox and wait till it says shut down now . ***** (See below if your having issues)
11. Remove the usb stick and pull the power supply from the xbox for 30 seconds.
12. Now turn the xbox back on to make sure everything has gone ok. So fingers crossed lol It should boot into the Newest xbox dash and you are nearly there.

Installing the Avatar update.

1. Copy the official MS dash to a USB stick.
2. Rename the folder to $$ystemupdate as you have already installed Dashlaunch and that will prevent MS dash installing off a game.
3. With the xbox turned off place the USB stick in the console.
4. Turn the Xbox on. When it comes on it will ask you to update. DONT PANIC lol As long as its not one above the one you have updated in jrunner everything will be fine it will just add the avatar update to your console.
5. Wait for it to all update and your done :)
6. Happy days your all updated :)

***** If you are having issues getting xell to work getting the file to go upgrade the dash you will have to use flash360 in xexmenu or fsd. All you do is load the program with the file on your hard drive and follow the on screen instructions. Its not hard to do and its pretty much the same as the other way of doing it but some xboxes refuse to work with the other method but this works on them consoles :)

This guide is what you have to do when you want to upgrade your console when you are on a older dash. Its not that bad as long as you read carefully and take it step by step 10 mins and your xbox will be upgraded. :)
