Thought i'd start a thread asking people about their handy linux apps.


Will start the billing with a few.(not they are not in any order just some i use and find good)

This program is a godsend if your running a live cd and it doesnt have correct codecs to watch youtube etc installed.

http://dnmouse.org/autoten/ also doesnt need to be fedora as had it running on ubuntu

Not that it's Linux specific but ffmpeg is a bloody useful tool for converting video formats. I made a script for sabnzb to convert mkv's to mp4 for Xbox. Plus a lot of software that you would pay for on windows is free on Linux for example xchat. I usually run xming on windows and run xchat on my Linux server over to my xming server on windows (x11 forwarding). You can run GUI Linux apps on a headless server and use xming on windows to see the GUI, handy for synaptic package manager on debian/ubuntu and stuff like that.
