Is there anyone out there who likes flight simulators? I've been using them for a lomg time now - ever since Aviator on the old BBC Micro (remember them?) through to Microsoft FSX and now X-Plane 10. I've added fla flight yoke, rudder pedals, throttle quadrants and instrument panels to my home PC which now looks more like a flight deck than anything else! All of this eventually prompted my other half to treat me to some time in a real commercial simulator and I'm now addicted to it! Here's a shot of me in the cockpit of a 737-200 just after landing at Aberdeen Dyce.

So, is anyone else just as daft about flight sims or is it just me ? :)

I never did get into driving sims apart from nucking about with Gran Turismo on my former brother-in-law's PS2. I might take another look at them, just to see how far they've advanced since then. Any advice on a good one - PC only as I don't have any consoles :)

Thanks for the info, Dave. A trucking sim sounds a bit different so I might give one a go :)

I played Microsoft Flight Simulator a few years back. Didn't rate it too much.

Sort of moved on from it.. love the HAWX series (not a simulator but an excellent series).

Not used those sims yet. I played partway through HAWX 2 but have been looking at Arma 2 for another bit of combat excitement. I might give it a try :)

I really enjoyed one of the X-Planes as a kid, can't remember what iteration. Recently I got myself a yoke and throttle to have a blast on Microsoft Flight but I was really disappointed with it. They're great to use in X3 though.

The only one i ever played was Flight Sim 2000. That was pretty good. Never got X though.
I am meant to be getting a simulator experience for my Birthday so should have about 1hr in the cockpit of a 747 :-)
