I've been gaming from a limited laptop for the past 2 years because I simply couldn't afford a decent spec PC... I know games advance but surely I could get a cheap one now? I live in England and don't know too much about current pc specs I sort of fell out of love with PC 6 year ago and now I'd love to have a gaming machine... I'm just kinda poor lol any sugguestions?

yes , forget it then, to be able to play new games at high level graphic settings etc your looking at at least 600 pounds upwards and thats just for something on the kinda basic gaming side, but still far far superior to any console out there or any new console that will be availble sometime soon gauranteed 100%, your choice though at end of day, if youve got a few extra quid defo go for the pc, if not then stick with a console, saying that though, theres no evidence yet how much the new consoles will actually cost, but like I said, even a mid range gaming pc would still blow the new consoles out of the water 10x over.

Depends on how you look at things though.

p.s
sorry, just realised you said you had a laptop rather than a console, woops, my mistake, lol, but gaming on a laptop ? what were you thinking of, lol ?

Lol, agreed laptops are not for gaming, pcs are more durable for this subject :) I'd say get yourself a decent barebones then add minimally to that if you haven't got deep pockets at the moment, you can look them up a few places, I know movatec had some a while back and they ate pretty good in every aspect computer wise, check them out:)

I dunno', I think if you have a look around Ebuyer a bit you might be able to pick something decent up at a good price. Would be even cheaper if you could get someone to build it for you/google how to build a PC. Definitely need it if you're gaming on a laptop though, dude.

Get yourself an i52500k and a 7000 series graphics card and you should be fine :)

with the greatest of respect mate, dont talk rubbish, if the guy buys a garbage pc and sticks even the best graphics card in it then he still would have problems, theres more to a good gaming rig than just a graphics card, if you would like to come back and discuss this point then please do so, I am all ears, cheers.

as BraveHeart says you cant really get a "gaming rig" for being skint...if you are just looking at playing midend games you could make a decent enough pc for 600 or so, if you have hardrives, monitors etc already that can lower your price down. but to buy something thats going to fly in games its going to cost you.

for ?500 you can build yourself a fairly competent gaming PC, recently built my friend one capable of running battlefield 3 very comfortably on high settings :)

The problem with spending ?500 even for a custom build, is in a few months time u gonna have to upgarde to run all the latest games. Thats one thing that has always put me off PC gaming.

How often do you guys upgrade ur PC's?

really isn't every few months, one of the down sides to the consoles taking over the gaming market is a lot of games are tailored for them so 90% of the time the game will not push your PC too hard, I upgraded mine last year and that was only because the mobo burned out!

Take a look at some prebuilt ones on ebay, just search for Gaming computer then narrow your results down to which processor (AMD or Intel ?) after that research on what graphics card it comes with and look at benchmarks etc

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my pc back to a half decent spec. I would definately recommend Overclockers.co.uk, they regularly do bundle deals and the customer support is pretty damn good to.

the good thing with upgrading is that you can buy a piece at a time, a bit of patience and you'll be playing 1080p+ games at a soild 60fps+ before you know it

or be like me and play The Binding of Isaac till your eyes melt out of your head

The best thing you can do mate is look at buying the bits seperately and building the machine yourself.

I've been searching for a gaming PC myself. Have a look a the Toshiba Qosmio, I think that's the best option for me.
