Hi All,

Ok doing a 4001 for a friend, card was locked to BOD tried unlooper but failed, so was trying the Voltmeter methold before I found out about the pnp SIMM.

Bottom line is that now when I insert simm or the pnp simm I recieve 88:88, if I insert simm from 1000 I get Err2.

I don't think I have a problem with the atmels, but I think I could have fooked the board when removing all soldering points when I was doing the voltmeter methold.

1st question is will a 1000 simm work in a 4001 ?

2nd question is has anyone got a wiring diagram for a 4001?, I could then trace through where I have fooked the board and re-solder a new track.

Maybe I will just tell mate, box is dead, not much I can do lol

Thanks

m8 the 88 88 are just telling you the sim isnt in correct,
i dont know about what sim will work with what, but if you use a led sim with the same amount of atmels either 2-4 it should be ok,but if you push the original led sim in, and put a straw to hold the led sim so it pushes it forward ,it will hopefully come on

sound like you overheated a chip on the simm, there are two types of simms two chip and four chip the 1000 has 4 the 1000 phase 1b has 2 i affair i dont know the 4001 as im in t*w

Ok thanks for the replies, I should have tried the box before I started it could well have been 88:88 before I started the job.

I will try the straw / matchstick trick.

Thanks

the 8888 is a bugger as it covers quite a few things if you have a working simm then at least you can rule that out,
if you pushed down too hard with your modded simm as is done with some pnp simm's (as there too thick) this dislodges the atmel legs as there are very close to the simm port, try pressing gently on them when powering up
