An update that brings select features of Android 4.0, AKA Ice Cream Sandwich, to the Samsung Galaxy S has begun rolling out in South Korea, suggesting that a UK release may not be too far behind.
According to GSM Arena, the upgrade, which combines the Gingerbread version of Android with elements of the newer ICS edition, is hitting handsets registered in Samsung?s domestic market now.

Features it brings to the Galaxy S include the ineffectual but cool Face Unlock, as well as the Snapshot camera function that enables video images to be converted to stills, and Photo Editor, which does what it says on the tin.
Samsung initially ruled out an update to ICS for the monster-selling mobile on the grounds that it didn?t have the brawn to handle it, before relenting somewhat earlier this month and pledging to add at least some of ICS?s highlights.
News of developments comes as UK networks are pushing out Android 4.0 to the Galaxy S?s sequel the Galaxy S2. O2 and Three were the first to make it available, with Orange, T-Mobile et al set to join the party in the next few weeks.
