Install vlc player on your pc then type the web addy of the box in your browser and click tv
it should be the same setup as with the dreambox so check the tuts in that section.

Install vlc player 1.1.11 then type the ip of your box in IE (not chrome or ff as not tested) then click bouquets and go to a channel (not HD as its flaky but they do work), then click the tv icon on the far right hand side of the channel vlc player should auto start or you might get a vlc popup click open and start streaming,
you have to stop streaming to change channel.

thanks mate...i was using firefox 7.0, will try IE.....

ok update...have a few issues....works fine with IE even the HD channels works fine...i get the annoying audio commentry on some channels, even though on the TV, when im not streaming there is no running audio commentry?????...also i prefer to use VLC as the player....windows media player seems to play the streaming contents...how do i make vlc as my default player ?......finally im doing this via along ethernet lead that is connected to the router and then into my laptop, which basically defeats the object of streaming wirelessly...problem is i cannot connect to the vmdg roter anymore wirelessly, ive tried resetting the vmdg280, checke the passwords on the router, disbaled firewall and antivirus, uninstalled wirelss NIC card and reinstalled it with latest drivers, disabled encryption on vmdg...but all to no avail....even tried to let windows fix the connection problem, but tells me to unplug router for 10 secs the replug it, which i do but still cant connect to the vmdg wirelessly, via ethernet cable is fine...sorry for the long winded reply ....thanks for the patience...

ok heres an update...i changed the vmdg280 to another one, put the working mac into the new vmdg280...i can now connect to the vu+duo box and stream...however after about 4 to 5 minutes vlc player stops streaming. I dont get disconnected from the vu+duo. just have to click play agin on vlc and it plays again for 4 or 5 minutes then stops..???..any ideas why.? ta

does this help

1. install vlc 1.0.5 on pc
2.install vlc plugin on vu+
3.setup ip of pc on the vu+ vlc plugin
4.open vlc on pc click view tab then add interface - then web interface
5.now open vlc on vu+ and you should be able to browse files on pc and stream no problem.

also to do this without having to open vlc on pc every time you can do the following and all you will need to do is make sure your pc is on and watch away on vlc on your vu+ without doing any setup on pc.

Firstly do the steps above
then:
1. Right click on VLC shortcut in All Programs, VideoLan, VLC Media Player
2. Properties
3. Compatibility tab
4. Select Windows XP SP3 mode
5. Apply

6. Start Button, All Programs, Accessories, Run
7. Enter following command and OK: C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -I ntservice --ntservice-install --ntservice-name=VLC-Win7_Service --ntservice-extraintf=http --ntservice-options="--no-qt-privacy-ask --no-qt-error-dialogs"

8. then go to Windows Task Manager {control, alt and delete}, Services, Services Button, find entry for VLC (VLC-Win7_Service) and start service.

9. shut down and restart PC and service will be running automatically on boot-up every time.

11. you can test with: http://127.0.0.1:8080 (http://127.0.0.1:8080/) in internet explorer on PC and you will see vlc Web Interface to show it is working.

12. Start VLC Plug-in on vu+

HAPPY VIEWING ON YOUR VU+! http://www.world-of-satellite.com/images/smilies/smile1.gif
