LG will begin pushing out the last-but-one version of Android to its Optimus handsets this week, giving users a long-awaited, much-deserved OS bump.
Owners of the dual core processor toting 2X, LG?s 2011 flagship kit which shipped with the creaky 2.2 version of Android (Froyo), are first in line for some update love and will be able to grab Android 2.3 Gingerbread from tomorrow.
The update, originally scheduled to hit the phone back in October, will bring with it the option to play 2D games in eye-popping/irksome 3D.

Optimus 3D and Optimus Black users on the other hand are scheduled for an update from the weeks starting November 21th and November 28th respectively. That?s the best part of a year after Gingerbread debuted on the Google Nexus S.
LG?s tardy, heel-dragging approach to updates came to light elsewhere this week when a post on its Facebook page appeared to confirm it has no plans to bring the brand new 4.0 edition of Android - aka Ice Cream Sandwich - to the Optimus 2X.
The news was greeted with a barrage of mud-slinging from owners, who would reasonably have expected a high-end, powerful phone that's mere months old to get the latest take on its OS.
HTC has since relented somewhat, but only in as much that it now claims it is still investigating which Optimus phones are viable for a taste of ICS.
