Good news for Android users: Google has opened Android Movies (https://market.android.com/movies) in the UK, so you can rent films as easily as downloading an app.
About a thousand movies are now up for download over 3G or Wi-Fi, reports The Inquirer. Prices start at ?2.49, with newer films like Senna and Green Lantern costing ?3.49.
To get your fill of the latest cinematic offerings on your handset, just download the free Videos app from Android Market, then take your pick. You have 30 days to watch, but once you've started you only have 24 hours before it's gone, like magic. You can watch your movie as many times as you like in that 24 hour period though.
If you don't like the idea of squinting at your mobile, you can watch on your TV using an HDMI cable, or computer. The service has been available in the US since May, so yet again us Brits are late to join in. Movie on offer include George Harrison Living in The Material World and The Bank Job, as well as older efforts like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
