on a drunken nite out my son in law lost his iphone as soon as he realised he had he reported to the police and got it blocked am i right in saying that they are no use to anyone who finds it?

They can be reflashed i think, or used abroad where some networks dont block.

Yes it should get blocked by Apple from making or receiving calls.
Even blocked though it will still work as a nice little media player for whoever finds it! :(
The worst thing about losing any phone, obviously complete with Sim card, is that it will have all his contacts etc on it, which could still be accessed! :-S
I hope it was insured so that he isn't out of pocket for a replacement, which for him might be the main concern.
Maybe a lesson learned to be extra careful with your phone during a night out because losing it can be far worse than losing your wallet? :cry:
