Last week it was leaked that HTC would be launching a new affordable Android smartphone known as the HTC Explorer.

HTC have now confirmed the launch of the HTC Explorer which will be launching in the 4th Quarter of 2011. The specification of the device do indeed show that it is a more affordable smartphone.

The Explorer has a 3.2 HVGA inch touch-screen which makes it a more compact than a lot of the premium mobiles on the market. Powering the HTC Explorer is a 600MHz processor, which may look under-powered compared to dual and quad core processors, but is still enough for solid web-browsing and social networking.

You can take pictures with the 3 mega-pixel camera which can then be uploaded to social networks using the pre-loaded applications. The HTC Explorer ships with Android 2.3 and comes with the HTC Sense user-interface. This means you can expect PC-esque browsing with full Adobe Flash support.
Three have already confirmed that the HTC Explorer will be coming to their network and expect a price-point somewhere around ?100.
