Google has announced a new version of its Google Goggles application which works in combination with your mobiles camera on Android smartphones.

The new version can automatically evaluate photos you've taken for items it can recognise and will then bring you information about them from Google Search. You can also easily share the image and information with friends from inside Google Goggles.

The major use of this feature is obviously when on holiday you can take pictures and have them automatically appraised for major landmarks and famous places, which you can then read more about and share with your friends.

Google Goggles still retains the ability to scan 2D images such as art, books, dvd's and tell you more about them. You can also scan barcodes with Goggles which can be used to do a price comparison on an item and it can also scan QR codes. Other features include the ability to translate foreign text by scanning it and solving Suduko puzzles.

You can download the latest version of Google Goggles from the Android Market by clicking here (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.unveil).
