Sorry if I am being a pain in the a$$ since I know admins have had a few suggestions recently and done a brilliant job.

I just wanted to know if it's possible to implement RSS feeds and make them threads?
My first idea for this was because I wanted to post wrestling news on the wrestlemania section but I dont always have the time to copy and paste articles.
But then I thought maybe this could extend to the main news section of the site since people often copy and paste news articles, why not just have an RSS feed from a source such as BBC and then people can comment on the articles they want?

Is this something people would be interested in if it's possible?

Do you mean the RSS feeds on each forum which shows all the new posts in that forum?

Thats not what i mean mate. i mean getting rss feeds from another site and putting them here so people can read news from other sites.

Yes its possible and was mentioned a while back, however some of the feeds are just crap, if you have a few site suggestions feel free to submit them we can take a look.

RSS feeding is cheating, youd only use this if your site is dead lol

I was thinking this mate: https://To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. maybe trialling it in the Wrestling section with this rss feed: http://feeds.wrestlinginc.com/wrestlinginc_news

RSS is already built into vbulletin. im sure red is fully aware of it in the admin panel. i have used it before when i ran vb. it works and i used to let it grab the tech news from bbc i think it was as those are an interesting read.

but dont you think we have enough to trawl through on whats new as it is??

The problem isnt the setting up its the content submitted by the site, you will find that all a lot of sites contain is a main title then a link to read more.

I will review the feed from your link see what its content is like.

your right red, most sites do this to force you back to their page to take you away from the copy cat site as it were.

good point and id forgotten about that implementation that they did on rss feeds!

@ pej its no good your going to have to post them manually like before you earned your title :P

I just got lost in wrestling inc.com for a couple of hours, from the link posted byPejazzle!
It is so easy to do when you start reading human interest stories about wrestlers you like to watch, as well as a lot of rumour's.
If you are a fan of wrestling, reading some of the speculation and rumours can actually add a lot to your hopes and expectations for future events and storylines, whether they actually come true or not!
So from my point of view the feeds are a good idea.

It doesn't just apply to wrestling either because off site technology links and news could be interesting to a wide range of people, so in effect we could be a one stop shop for where to look for information on subjects of interest.
Whether that interest is in Iphones or the stock exchange?
It would be an alternative to our other off site interests, which seem to just concern watching porn!
Shared interests give common ground between members and lead to more discussion on those subjects, which in turn is good for WOD!

In a nutshell the idea seems sound, however, with everyone posting their own feeds you have to have control over what is posted to avoid unsuitable content being posted on the site.
For that reason only trusted members could have that privilege, or it could lead to anarchy and too much work for site staff!

P.S Seems there were several posts while i was browsing elswhere.
I have to agree that there is a lot of crap posted on the wrestling site, but, there are also nuggets of info there as well, so it is down to the users selective reading about their main topics or characters of interest, which brings out the best of any site?
