There are so many scams and cons these days you really have to be on your toes all the time don't you. I would never access my bank details from any computer but my own as you never know if a computer has a keylogger or something attached. I thank all the people on this site who post such warnings to make us all aware. We all know it goes on all the time but a timely heads up warning with an example helps to keep things like this at the front of your mind. Forwarned is forarmed as they say. Reading the examples though I would seriously doubt their validity just because of the very bad grammar used in the letters, unless you use the bank of Mc Donalds of course.
Thanks to Shipoftheline for the useful reporting link, I didn't know that existed so handy to keep for future reference just in case. v:)

Yeh, I had a similar one from a phone company, I think they were called Dial-a-phone. Claimed to be calling on behalf of T-mobile. Didn't trust them, sounded too dodgy.

one simple rule for spams and its always on the first line of the message

Dear ??

if its form the genuine bank, ebay, paypal it always is

Dear (Then User name)

eg

Dear Wappy

and because its bulk emails done with some sort of mail merge and the genuine ones always use your user name, apparently it give it that personal touch

but seen as scammers don't know you user name they just have a email so they always start

Dear Halifax user

Dear Paypal user

or Dear Sir/Madam,

and basicly its a very broad term to cover lots of people while still making it look genuine

next time you get emails look out for it, ;)

Lainie I'll swap you for some of the 50 or so porn crap emails that I get a day. Much easier to delete 5. I have mailwasher pro set to block and delete but I still have to check the emails on the server first. Trouble is some refuse to bounce and my blacklist is longer than the PS3 queue because of the randomly generated addresses. X-(

Got the Barclays e-mail myself even though I don't have an account with them, although I must say that I quickly realised it was a scam. Phoned Barclays and told them and they at least had the decency to contact and thank me.

Remember everybody BANKS,BUILDING SOCIETIES ETC DO NOT CONTACT YOU ON THE PHONE OR BY E-MAILS REQUESTING PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Sorry to shout but this is a very serious situation that can prove very costly.
