Hi , dose anyone know what the USB port is for on the .
Thompson Freeview+ box?...........

It was intended for a portable media player, but due to copyright restrictions all plans for this have now been dropped. The USB ports have never been enabled in the software, and can't be used - except (on some boxes only) for charging an MP3 player,mobile ect.Hope this helps mate

Many of these type of boxes have a usb port purely for downloaded software updates.
As lost said their can be a problem with copyrite protection, though if anything changes on that front, having the usb socket already built in means that manufacturers may have the opportunity to just upgrade their firmware and make it usable for other things later on.
There are however some Freeview + boxes with working usb sockets, which allow photo viewing, music playback or in some cases video playback. If this feature is important to you, as it would be to me, you should look at one of those boxes with a fully enabled usb socket, though they generally cost more.
