Details of Nokia?s first batch of Windows Phone 7-powered devices have been leaked online, including more info on the Nokia W8 and Nokia W7.
The leak comes via Mobile Review, who claims that Nokia has moved away from Microsoft?s imposed Windows Phone 7 hardware requirements (known as Chassis N? 1) and into a more flexible design process (known as Chassis N? 2) where it has more control over design, spec and modification.
At present, the current Nokia Windows Phone 7 prototype handsets consist of variants of the Nokia W7, Nokia W8, an E6-like device and an entry-level touchscreen device,
In terms of spec, latest murmurings suggest that the Nokia W7 will feature a WVGA display, Qualcomm QSD8250 chipset, Windows Phone 7 OS and an 8-megapixel camera. This is reported to be the first device to hit the market, coming sometime in late 2011.
The Nokia W8, a Windows reboot of the Nokia N8, will be the flagship handset, featuring a dual core Qualcomm CPU and Adreno 320 GPU, as well as a 12-megapixel shooter. The Nokia W8 is expected to get a release date in early 2012, possibly Q2.
The other two handsets, according to the leak, will be based on previous Symbian and Windows Phone 7 handsets ? just made with slightly cheaper components to ramp down the price tag.
